Chelsea leading the race to sign PSG ‘popular’ player

Chelsea transfer Chief, Marina Granovskaia has a big decision to make and quickly too as the deadline day in the ongoing winter transfer window is looming.

Layvin Kurzawa has become a popular figure in the transfer market, with Barcelona and Chelsea keen on signing the defender. The London giants are currently the front-runners to secure the services of the PSG left-back. France international has been with the Parisians since arriving from Monaco in summer 2015.

But Kurzawa has struggled to feature prominently for PSG in recent years, with Bernat the preferred choice ahead of him in the left-back slot. And the arrival of Nuno Mendes last summer has made matters worse for Layvin, who has become a bit-part footballer at PSG.

The 29-year-old defender has featured only once for the Parisians this campaign, playing just nine minutes as a substitute. While his deal has over two years left to run out, the French defender’s spell at PSG appears to be winding down.

But the Frenchman does not have a shortage of suitors, with Barcelona and Chelsea keen on signing the defender. The interest from the Blaugrana stems from Alejandro Balde’s struggles to settle down in the first-team setup since being promoted at the onset of the ongoing season.

With Alba well into his thirties, Xavi needs to bring in a left-back who can share the workload with Jordi. The Blues’ emergence in the race to add Layvin comes in the wake of Chilwell’s season-ending knee injury. As it turns out, Chelsea are leading the race to sign Kurzawa from the Parisians, having already submitted an offer for the defender.
