The World football governing body popularly known as FIFA has reacted after Chelsea football club of England star Edouard Mendy received the Best FIFA Men’s goalkeeper of the year award, minutes after winning the Africa Cup of Nations title with Senegal national team.The former Stade de Rennes football club star beat Paris Saint Germain football club of France goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Bayern Munich shot stopper Manuel Neuer to win the award few weeks ago, but he was unable to receive the award because of the AFCON tournament.
The 29 years old performed excellently for the Blues last season, and he was able to help them to win the UEFA Champions League title and the UEFA Super Cup.Edouard Mendy kept three clean sheets for Senegal national team in the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations, and he conceded just two goals.
The Senegalese has now been given the award by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the secretary general Fatma Samoura.
