Worst VAR and referee decision against Chelsea in UCL clash with Lille

The UEFA Champions League round of 16 fixture between Lille and Chelsea has been an interesting one, as both teams are displaying an outstanding performance tonight.

The first half ended in a 1-1 scoreline for both teams. The goal from Burak gave Lille the first half lead against Chelsea. However, the subsequent goal from Christian Pulisic equalized the scoreline, making the first half to end in a 1-1 scoreline.

However, the Referee made a wrong decision to award a penalty to Lille in the first half of the match, despite Jorginho’s handball in the penalty box. Here is why.

The handball made by Jorginho was an unintentional act. The ball was away from Jorginho’s body. Jorginho’s hand was up due to the fact that he was trying to adjust his position in a crowded space, hence the reason why he raised his hands.
