Bad news to Chelsea despite beating Lille 2-1 in UCL clash
Thomas Tuchel’s squad suffer another huge blow during the UEFA Champions League clash between Lille vs Chelsea on Wednesday.
Another injury concern for Chelsea as it seems that every time he gets players back, he loses another, and that was the case tonight.
Cesar Azpilicutea and Marcos Alonso were back in the lineup tonight and Tuchel said before kick off it was a relief to have “natural” wing backs in the side.
But before the first period way halfway through, the Blues were already a man down, with Andreas Christensen taken off and replaced at right centre back by Trevoh Chalobah – who then got a yellow card and gave away a free kick within seconds of his introduction.
It didn’t look too serious an issue, but the fact that Christensen is one of many players constantly picking up minor knocks is a real frustration. Chalobah is capable as a backup, but he’s playing regularly as it is, and behind him the depth really runs out.
