Chelsea favorite to sign Manchester United star target
This summer, Chelsea is expected to buy a highly rated center back, and the club is beginning to seriously discuss the possibility of doing so internally. This comes after it was announced that Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen would be leaving the club in the near future to sign with Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, two of the club’s biggest rivals.
Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli is one of the most coveted talents currently on Thomas Tuchel’s radar, and he has been there for some time. The failure to extend Koulibaly’s current deal, which is due to expire in the summer of 2019, has cast doubt on the defender’s long-term prospects.
The Senegalese international player will not be abandoned without compensation come summertime next year. Instead of letting him go without compensation, the Seria A side is getting set to make a profit off of him. According to Sports Witness’s understanding, the best suitors, including Chelsea, have been informed that they may part with €35 million for the star in the event that they wish to seek his services.
According to the newspaper, the agency “is presenting the Napoli defender to prominent names in Europe,” before identifying the Blues specifically as one of those potential suitors. If he inks a contract with Chelsea and chooses to play for them at Stamford Bridge, the club’s higher leadership will have no trouble providing him a big income. As United continue their hunt for a center defender, they have been hesitant in making a decision to sign Koulibaly, which has given Tuchel an advantage in the race to acquire his services. They are concentrating their efforts on capturing Pau Torres as their top priority.
